Spring Term

Spring 1

This half term we will be entering the enchanted world of fairy tales! Ever wondered what really happened between the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs? We'll be finding out in our Guided Reading sessions! Jack and the Beanstalk, the Three Billy Goats Gruff and Little Red Riding Hood will be inspiring our writing and our creative skills in D&T and Music. So let's get going to the land of Once Upon a Time...

Our Hut Project

This term Year 2 have been given an exciting opportunity to work with the Our Hut Team, a group of architects with a passion for local history. They will be sharing their knowledge of the amazing and varied structures that can be found in Crystal Palace Park, including the Crystal Palace itself that is no longer there. Stay posted for updates about the project, and don't forget to explore the Park yourself!

Trip to Crystal Palace Park - Our Hut

As part of the Our Hut project the children toured around Crystal Palace looking at the structures that can be found there. We visited the station, the sports centre and the dinosaurs, as well as the site of the old Crystal Palace. We sketched the structures we found and talked about how the park has changed over time.

Year 2 Biscuit Sale

As part of our D&T learning this half-term the children became bakers, just like Thomas Farriner! They designed and made biscuits, which we sold to other children in the school. The children managed to raise £78 - well done!!
