During English we worked in groups to read through a script of a stage show version of The Twits by Roald Dahl. We decided who had which part, and the best way to use expression and tone to make the scene more exciting to watch!
During Autumn 1, Year 5 took part in a Victorian dress-up day. The children and teachers came in in-costume and we spent the day as children from the era would have - With the 3 R's, the dunce hat and cane. We also had an afternoon of experiencing the Victorian Work-life - with some children running out of money and 'starving to death'. We also baked Wheaten Bread from scratch, which we got to eat the next day. It was yummy!
We started our year off with the annual school Balloon Launch! Here are some photo's of us enjoying the view and getting involved with the James Dixon School community.
