Design and technology is a practical and process based activity. It is about identifying needs, planning, problem solving, making and evaluating. It enables children to put into practice their knowledge and understanding of the world and to develop a broad skill base. Design and Technology provides children with an opportunity to create using a range of materials. They are encouraged to be critical from a scientific, technological and artistic perspective through the designing and making of various products. Through food technology we teach the life skills needed to develop healthy habits which will stay with them into adulthood. 

We aim to help all children become aware of technology in the home, school and in life. We develop children’s creativity with a positive approach to problem solving situations. We promote the development of skills using a variety of tools and teach safe working practices. Our curriculum allows children to reflect on and evaluate current and past design and technology so that they too can become potential innovators.
