At James Dixon, a love of History is promoted by bringing History to life. The use of artefacts, off site visits and themed WOW days within school all help to foster a love of History. With a focus on making History come alive for the children,  a broad and diverse History curriculum links to a different termly theme, encompassing rich and vibrant texts to support the learning. History lessons develop the knowledge and skills needed by children in order for them to place their learning in a historical context, developing a chronological understanding of the different time periods studied.

Historical knowledge is often incorporated into school life - for example in assemblies and themed weeks. By inspiring our children to find out about the past, we hope they will develop a respect and appreciation for the world they live in today.
